KDOJ Gotong-Royong Perdana 2026: Building a Cleaner College Together

University leadership and the KDOJ community gather during the KDOJ Gotong-Royong Programme 2026.

JOHOR BAHRU, 31 October 2026 — Kolej Dato’ Onn Jaafar (KDOJ), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), brought its college community together for the KDOJ Gotong-Royong Programme 2026, held from 8.00 am to 11.00 am. The programme involved JKP members, Fellows, Assistant Fellows, student volunteers and college staff in a shared effort to improve the cleanliness and comfort of the residential environment.

Participants worked together to collect rubbish around the hostel grounds, sweep and mop floors, wipe windows and clean shared facilities. Outdoor teams gathered litter into rubbish bags, helping to improve the surroundings of the residential blocks.

Indoor cleaning included the surau, where participants vacuumed carpets, cleaned surfaces and rearranged books and other items. These activities encouraged residents to care for the facilities they share and use every day.

The programme produced visible improvements in several areas. In one shared indoor space, dirt and scattered debris along the tiled floor and wall edges were removed, leaving the area noticeably cleaner.

A highlight of the programme was the engagement with UTM’s Naib Canselor (NC) and Timbalan Naib Canselor (Hal Ehwal Pelajar dan Alumni), TNC HEPA. Their presence provided an opportunity for interaction with the KDOJ community and reinforced the importance of student welfare, a conducive residential environment and shared responsibility for campus cleanliness.

The gathering, brought university leadership, college representatives and students together, adding encouragement and recognition to the volunteers’ efforts.

KDOJ extends its appreciation to the NC, TNC HEPA, JKP, Fellows, Assistant Fellows, student volunteers and college staff for their support and contributions. All residents are encouraged to sustain these improvements by keeping common areas tidy, disposing of rubbish responsibly and caring for shared facilities.
