Conclusion of ISS Nigeria UTM Three-week-long Qur’an Interpretation Program

Assalamualaikum and Salam Sejahtera,

On March 28, 2025, Dr. Nabil, a fellow of KDOJ/KTGB, had the honor of attending the closing ceremony organized by the Nigerian Students’ ISS-Nigerian at the university, marking the conclusion of their three-week-long Qur’an Interpretation Program held every evening throughout Ramadan.

This program was truly valuable and highly beneficial, addressing our profound need for initiatives that revive the soul, awaken the heart, and strengthen our faith through the interpretation of the words of our Creator, the Almighty. Conducted entirely in English, I sincerely hope it continues without interruption and attracts not only international students but also staff members and all Muslims.

Such educational endeavors align with the principles of lifelong learning emphasized in Islamic teachings, which advocate for continuous education as a means to achieve personal growth and societal development. This concept resonates with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. By fostering a deeper understanding of the Qur’an, programs like this contribute to the intellectual and spiritual development of individuals, thereby enhancing the overall well-being of the community.

Moreover, the program’s emphasis on interpreting the Qur’an during Ramadan underscores the importance of spiritual renewal and ethical living, values that are integral to sustainable development. Islamic teachings encourage moderation, compassion, and social responsibility—principles that support various Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). By promoting ethical conduct and social cohesion, such initiatives contribute to building peaceful and inclusive societies.

Special thanks to the Nigerian Students’ Union, Sheikh Dr. Abdul-Mumin Inda, the President of the Nigerian Students’ Union, ISS Nigeria, and all attendees and participants. Gratitude is also extended to the university’s Islamic center management for providing the hall and facilitating arrangements at the mosque.
