A Visit from the DEWAN Teraju Usahawan JOHOR and JBEES Delegation

Versi Bahasa Melayu

On November 11, 2024, we had the honor of hosting members from the Dewan Teraju Usahawan dan Peniaga Bumiputera Negeri Johor and the Persatuan Usahawan Lebah Kelulut Johor (JBEES) at our premises. This visit served as an effective platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge, laying the foundation for significant collaboration in sustainable stingless bee farming. We are confident that this initiative will drive the growth of the stingless bee industry in Johor and contribute to environmental sustainability.

The delegation, led by Dato’ Kamal from the Biro Asas Tani dan Sekuriti Makanan, visited the Lembah Kelulut at Kolej Dato’ Onn Jaafar UTM, where they were warmly received by the college principal, Dr. Amri. During this visit, Dr. Amri shared insights about the community project, Kelestarian Ekosistem Kelulut & Alam Lestari (KEKAL), conducted in collaboration with the Felda Tenggaroh 7 community. This project aims to promote sustainable stingless bee farming among local communities, with the hope of enhancing local economies and raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. Additionally, the campus houses approximately 33 active stingless bee hives, demonstrating their commitment to research and development in this industry.

Dr. Amri also introduced an innovative monitoring system that integrates sensor technology and artificial intelligence (AI) through the EMAS application, which he developed himself. This technology has the potential to revolutionize the stingless bee industry by optimizing productivity and efficiency at the national level. The visit was further enriched by insights from Hairulnizam, a renowned stingless bee expert and active member of Dewan Teraju. His expertise provided valuable knowledge to the attendees, facilitating new entrepreneurs to venture into and thrive in this promising industry.

This collaboration signifies an important step towards a greener and more sustainable future for Johor and beyond. By leveraging technological advancements and fostering strategic partnerships, we aim to strengthen the local stingless bee industry, benefiting both the economy and the environment.
